Connect Your Way

We get it.

At Microtec, we understand today’s changing lifestyles. We don’t do things that our parents did and we do do things that they never dreamt of, so why, in this age of the internet and technology, would you buy a security system that is the same as the one your dad had? We all spend big bucks to have the latest gadget, or big screen TV, but what do we do to protect them? Has crime gone down? Nope. Do we own guns and sit up all night waiting for a prowler? Not in Canada. Microtec has the solution; we do it your way.

Approximately 30% of young people no longer have a land line in the home. Cell phones are becoming more popular as our primary way of contacting the world. At the same time, nearly every person in Canada has an internet connection. For most alarm companies, this means trouble. For decades, they have (and continue to do so) promoted the same basic system that functions over a telephone land line to communicate to a monitoring station. That’s great, but what do they do when you don’t have a land line?

Now you can get it.

Utilizing today’s technology, all of the above ways of communicating are available to be used to connect to a monitoring station. Of course, we still offer the traditional land line connections, but if you don’t have one, we can connect you to a monitoring station through means of cellular network. And connecting through a high speed internet connection is easy. And if you want to be extra sure that the signal is going to get to where you want it to, you can do a combination of any two or three methods. Adapting to today’s changing lifestyles is at the heart of Microtec’s philosophy. Work with us, Canada’s most progressive security company, offering choices that blend with how you live work, and you can get it too.

Land Line

This is the traditional way of connecting to a monitoring station. Still a great way to connect, dependable and cheap, so long as the phone line is working. Subject to disruption in adverse environmental conditions and natural disasters. Limited portability.

Cellular

An alternative or back-up to a land line connection. Cellular connectivity has greatly increased in the last several years and continues to do so. This means less chance of dropped calls etc, but it is not fool proof. Cell networks can be disrupted by certain atmospheric conditions or damage to cell transmission towers. To be clear, a dedicated cell number is used to transmit the signal from an alarm panel to the monitoring station. Does not require a land line to be present. Cost is somewhat more than traditional means but more cost effective than adding a land line. Portable.

Internet

Another way to connect to a monitoring station, the internet is getting more reliable all the time. Extremely cost effective although there may be some equipment cost up front. No land line required, a great way to back up a cellular line or as a stand-alone connection method. Due to variances between regions and providers, and they possibility of internet service disruption, it is recommended as a back up only in some locations. Speak to your local service provider about service guarantees. Totally portable.
